High Top Outfitters was founded in 2000 by Jay Simon and Shane Ellis. It began with 2 friends hunting cougars together for a couple of clients per year in the southern Utah mountains.

The picture to the right is a double whammy. Jay and Shane had two clients hunting cougars. They began early and cut the first lion track and within a few hours had harvested their first lion of the day. They continued hunting and cut another fresh track. By that afternoon they had taken their second lion. Both clients were thrilled with their success.
Jay Simon began to guide backcountry trophy bull elk hunts using horses. This hunt was a one on one guide service and the results were outstanding. Jay's clients were taking 350 to 380 bulls on public land. The bulls were among the best in the state. Jay and Shane Ellis began to hunt the Utah Black Bears with their hounds. Black Bear hunting kept the dogs in shape year round. Both Jay Simon and Shane Ellis have personally harvested Tom Cougars in excess of 7'7" and 180 pounds.

High Top Outfitters success was noticed by western hunters. Interest and demand grew through the years. In 2007 the company hired Shane Scott as an Outfitter and Guide. Shane Scott has been a local law enforcement officer for 16 years and a firearms trainer for 10 years. "One of my goals is to help our clients with their pre hunt rifle preparation. I want them to have confidence in their skills and equipment during their upcoming hunt". The lower picture to the right is a picture of Shane Scott's successful Utah Paunsaugunt Hunt. On one of Utah's best deer units Shane was able to fulfill a personal goal and harvest this 31 inch Utah Mule deer.

In 2009, High Top Outfitters successfully Outfitted and Guided Wisconsin client Joel Dingeldein to his Utah Bull Elk that made the all time Boone And Croocket Record Book. In 2010 High Top Outfitters successfully Outfitted and Guided Colorado client John Canning to his Utah Pahvant Archery Bull Elk that will make the all time Pope And Young Record Book. Local Guides Adam Stevens and Royce Stevens did an outstanding job.

In 2011 High Top Outfitters successfully Outfitted and Guided Washington Client Jim Cook to his 403 inch Southwest Desert giant here in Utah. Local HTO Guide Dusty Ellett put forth a great effort in taking one of the Utah's best bulls in 2011. The pictures say it all!

In 2011 High Top Outfitters successfully Outfitted and Guided Utah Client Nathan Smith to his 381 inch San Juan Archery Bull. Nathan teamed up with HTO Guide Brendan Robins for his long awaited hunt. The bull officially grossed 381 3/8 and netted 366 7/8. The bull will make the all time Pope and Young Record Book. Great job guys!!!

In 2011 High Top Outfitters successfully Outfitted and Guided Utah Sportsmans Buffalo Client Don Weston to his 120 3/8 Utah Bison. Local HTO Guide Taylor Albrecht specializes in the Henry Mountains bison and mule deer. With Taylor's expertise he put Don on this bull that made the all time Boone And Crockett Record Book.

In 2011 High Top Outfitters successfully Outfitted and Guided Texas Client Time Walker to his 383 inch giant Pahvant Bull Elk. Local HTO Guides Adam Stevens and Royce Stevens were back at it in 2011! Tim's bull had 13 plus inch bases. The Stevens brothers continue to make a great team for our clients on the Pahvant.
